What is the science behind stretching for muscle tightness?

Here's how it works:
Increases Muscle Length and Elasticity
When you stretch, you temporarily lengthen the muscle fibers and surrounding connective tissues (like fascia). Over time, consistent stretching can lead to improved elasticity of these tissues, allowing for greater flexibility and reduced tightness.
Activates the Stretch Reflex
Muscles have sensors called muscle spindles that detect changes in length and speed of stretching. When you stretch too quickly, the stretch reflex activates, causing the muscle to contract to protect itself from overstretching.
